Documentation Chapter 1:
Maximized Software GoPOP provides you with remote access to all of your Outlook email - all mail folders, not just your inbox! GoPOP is useful for a whole range of users, including traveling business persons, remote workers, and anyone needing complete access to their email while away from their primary computer.
How to Use This Documentation
You should read the installation instructions in Chapter 2 for details on how to install GoPOP on your primary computer, the machine you will be accessing remotely. For Firewall configuration and special issues, see Chapter 3. After GoPOP has been installed, you will need to refer to Chapter 4 or Chapter 5 to configure GoPOP on your remote device(s). After you have completed these steps, you will be able to use GoPOP immediately.
For purposes of clarity, throughout this documentation and GoPOP information, the terms below are used as defined.
- Primary Computer: The computer(s) running Outlook and GoPOP - the computer that you are going to access remotely.
- Remote Device: A desktop computer, laptop computer, or wireless PDA (Palm, Handspring, PocketPC, etc.)
- Remote Mail Client: The mail program you use on your remote device, and that you will be using to connect to your primary computer, to access your Outlook mail.
GoPOP is available for the platforms shown below. Versions may be released in the future to support other mail clients and other devices. If you would like a version of GoPOP for a platform that is not listed below, please let us know.
Your primary computer needs to have the following software installed:
Your remote device needs to have any standard mail reader installed. And it must be configurable so that you can set it up to connect to GoPOP on your primary PC. Sample mail clients include the following: (note that this list is not all inclusive, any standard mail client will work)
- Microsoft Outlook® 2000 (or later) for Windows
- Microsoft Windows 98 or later (98, 98SE, ME, NT, 2000, XP)
If you attempt to configure a specific mail program on a remote device, and it will not work, please let us know or complete the support form, providing all relevant information so that we can test the platform.
